Why Are We an Alliance?

The Alliance for Land and Legacy believes that protecting and preserving land takes more than any one person or organization. We need to build relationships that make that protection stronger. Lasting conservation depends on collaboration on sharing our strengths.

A single string is fragile and easy to break. Bind them together, and they can hold tons of weight. That’s why we’re working to build partnerships with organizations focused on wildlife, restoration, education, and community care.

We’re just getting started, but our vision is clear: to work alongside local nonprofits already doing the work on the ground. Together, we hope to create spaces that aren’t just preserved, but actively supported, shared, and sustained.

Working with St. John Wildlife Rehabilitation

To that goal, we’ve had early conversations with St. John Wildlife Rehabilitation, a nonprofit that provides hands-on care for injured and orphaned wildlife. They support a wide range of species from seabirds and reptiles to St. John’s iconic wild donkeys helping animals recover and return to their natural habitats.

At the Earnest Marsh Territorial Preserve, we’re exploring ways to collaborate, including the potential for a dedicated space for donkey recovery, a small wildlife veterinary station, and even an aviary to support bird rehabilitation. These efforts could strengthen the island’s capacity to care for its wildlife and further our shared mission to protect both land and life.

Looking Ahead

We know we won’t do this alone. The work ahead will take care, consistency, and collaboration. That’s why we’re actively seeking other groups especially those rooted in the Virgin Islands with missions that align with land preservation, wildlife care, cultural stewardship, and education.
If your organization shares those values, we’d love to talk. Reach out to the email below. Let’s find common ground.
